Do we need man to teach us the scriptures?

We need to study what the Word of God tells us, that we may answer this question with truth. We will look at different scriptures to see what we can learn about this question. By the end of this study we will learn the depth of truth regarding the answer.

1 John 2:27. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

John 6:45. It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Read Acts 8:26-40, for it teaches us that a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch asked this very question even though he understood to a point already, as he was heading home after worshiping God in Jerusalem. He did not have the New Testament scriptures with him at that time, as they were not yet written. He understood so much, yet he did not have the New Testament, he was not sure of whom the prophet spoke. If the eunuch had the New Testament with him, he would have been able to find out of whom the prophet Spoke. Therefore, God sent the eunuch, Philip, to teach the willing seeker of whom the Scriptures were talking about, Christ Jesus our Saviour. Philip, for the eunuch, was the closest to the New Testament available at that time. Today, we have the Scriptures, the Old and New Testament. We need to know what God has said, He is calling us to His Word, He is ready to teach the willing heart, His heart, His Word.

Man does play a part in teaching the scriptures. That is why Jesus said, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20.

Yet, once we have heard and learned from man, we need to study the Word with God for ourselves to see if these things are so. Note Acts 17:11; Isaiah 8:20; 30:16; Luke 16:31; John 5:39. When we seek to know the Word of God for ourselves, we build a loving relationship with God, His Son Jesus, and Holy Spirit, which goes deep within all our heart, mind and soul. We just simply cannot rely on Man, for man is not Christ, in whom the Word is. Note John chapter 1, verses 1-14. Jesus said, “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Luke 11:9-10. Note Acts 17:11, “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

The scriptures tell us to, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.” Proverbs 3:5-8.

The only way we can, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding …” is to humbly submit to the LORD and His Word by surrendering ourselves and obey His leading. When we do this, it comes with blessing in ways we may never realise till we receive them. Note Deuteronomy 5:33 Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess. And Jeremiah 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

This does not mean you’ll be free from trouble in this world, yet we can have peace within, knowing that our life is but for a short time in this world, BUT when Jesus comes to take us home, we have eternity, forever with the LORD. Study Luke 6:22; John7:7; 15:18-27; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 21:3-7.

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalms 55:22

When thou (God) saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. See Psalms 27:8. We are to do this in love for Him, as 2 John 1:6 tells us, “And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.”

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13

Through Christ Jesus, God gives the seeker of His Holy Spirit to teach us all things. We only need to ask of God and He will show us things we know not of. Daily read the scriptures, seek Him early and enjoy the blessings God desires to teach us all. Trust in God, for He will, as He has said, teach us all things, which is from His Word, the Holy Scriptures, the Holy Bible.

With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: … Isaiah 26:9

But the anointing (Holy Spirit/Ghost) which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. 1 John 2:27. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26. Also remember that Jesus Christ our Lord said, “It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.” John 6:45.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Ephesians 6:10-20

Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen. Ephesians 6:23-24.
