“Search”

We may have prayed the prayer, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalms 139:23-24.

When we sincerely pray the words of this verse, it becomes our call to God for Him to search our heart for any wicked way within us. Which in a sense, is asking Him to rid wickedness from our heart. We are asking God to bring any wickedness in our heart to our attention and that through His leading, He will clean our heart for the way of everlasting.

“Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.” Jeremiah 29:12.

God will answer the prayer of sincerity of the one who prays that all the wickedness within their heart will be gone. For the LORD said, “I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Jeremiah 17:10.

For God to answer the above prayer, we are to sincerely take heed to the following call from God. This call from God is for all to go to the scriptures that we may search the heart of God. When we do this, we also search the heart of His beloved Son, our Saviour. The scriptures are where the Holy Spirit, through Jesus, leads, guides, and even opens our eyes to see the truth God has for us to learn and follow.

God said, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13.

And Jesus said, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39.

We should ask God to search our heart, yet in the meantime, God our Father, Father of the Godhead bodily, is calling for us to search for Him. The more we search for Him, the more the above prayer will be answered, and we will see any wickedness within our own heart. The closer we become to God, the more we know the wickedness within our heart. The shame of sin comes forth in the Light of God’s presence.

When we read of the first fall of man, we see that it was shameful for Adam and Eve, to be in the presence of God because they were naked. Even though they had sewed fig leaves together to try and cover themselves, their sins were still before them. Read Genesis 3:6-11 or read the complete chapter of Genesis 3.

Bible study is like dining on the tree of Life. Seek and search through the scriptures with prayer, for it is written, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” James 4:8.

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” James 4:10.

“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:22
